DONATIONS AND PROJECTS

In seven years, the Association has made several projects in Bantayan.

In March 2003, the Association donated 15 ceiling fans, 2 mini-refrigerators and nebulizers to Bantayan District Hospital, through Mr. & Mrs. Larry Capili, the Association's representative.

In April 2004, the Association donated packages of beds, electric fans, electric stoves, electric airpots, etc, amounting $1000.00 to Bantayan District Hospital, through Mr. & Mrs. Larry Capili, the Association's representative.

Over the years the Association donated almost $4000.00 to Bantayan District Hospital.
Aside from donating in Bantayan District Hospital, the Association have also granted college scholarships to those deserving high graduate students. The scholarship grant is subject to the following ongoing requirements:
The scholar must be enrolled in any college, vocational or technical school in Visayas.
The scholar must carry a regular full load of subjects in each semester.
The grade average must not less than 83% in any school semester.
To ensure of the timely matriculation, on or before the beginning of the school semester, the tuition bill together with the grades must be send to the Association.
The scholar has only four (4) years to finish the desired degree/ five (5) years for engineering/ two (2) years vocational, whichever is the scholars choice.
The grant consists of a yearly stipend of $700.00 for the first 2 batches of scholars and $300.00 for the succeeding batches of scholars. The tuition will be paid directly to the school and the balance of the grant every semester($350.00/$200.00 less tuition) will be sent to the scholar. It is the scholar's responsibility to take care of the board & lodging, books, etc.
Transfer from one school to another as well as changes in the being majored in are disallowed.

Over the years the Association have spent $22400.00 for this scholarship grants. So far there are four scholars who have graduated this year. They are the first batch of scholars.

ABA's list of charity to Bantayan Islands:

Year 1999 - $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan District Hospital for ventilation (electric fans) & water system. $ 200.00 - direct medical assistance

Year 2000 - $ 2,800.00 scholarship grants to 4 Bantayan High School graduates for their college education.

Year 2001 - $ 4,900.00 college scholarship grants to 7 students. 1 Balikbayan box of medical supplies to Bantayan District Hospital

Year 2002 - $ 5,900.00 college scholarship grants to 10 students. $500.00 aid for medical mission in Bantayan Island (Bantayan Hospital)

Year 2003 - $ 6,900.00 college scholarship grants to 12 students $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan Hospital for more electric fans, mini-refrigerators & other supplies.

Year 2004 - $ 5,300.00 college scholarship grants to 12 students (4 graduated) $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan District Hospital for beds & other supplies.

Year 2005 - $ 5,500.00 college scholarship grants to 13 students (2 graduated) $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan District Hospital for linens & fitted sheets. $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan District Hospital for dextrose & other medical supplies. 1 Balikbayan box of reading books/novels/encyclopedia (130 pcs) to Bantayan Library

Year 2006 - $ 4950.00 college scholarship grants to 11 students (4 graduated) $ 1,000.00 donation to Bantayan District Hospital for bp cuffs, washing machine, & other medical supplies. $ 9,000.00 - roof for the Cathedral of Maasin, Leyte as requested by an anonymous donor who donated also $1,000.00 to ABA's scholarship fund. 3 Balikbayan boxful of books Bantayan libraries

ABA's main goal is charity back to Bantayan Island.
